Dad's Rules with Kevin Belzer

This podcast is based around my rules for being a kickass adult. Over the past 50 years, I have used myself as a guinea pig, of sorts, testing these rules out. We will discuss the ones that worked, and should be carved into stone, as well as the ones I threw to the side. I am all about making us all better humans, even if it is at my own expense. Plan to laugh, cry, and cringe as I go over Dad's Rules, relationships, and interview people, that are truly living a kickass life in every way. So, get off my lawn and live your kickass life!!!

19 - MenaceCon 2022 Recap Part I 31.08.2022

This will take several podcast to cover. What I want to do is make sure I spend enough time going through the different speakers. My hope is to convey the value I received out of each and every speaker. The next MenaceCon will be in January 2023. It will be held in Phoenix, Arizona area again. Don't say I didn't give you enough notice!  With so much knowledge to share and trying to keep the l...

18 - Challenges, Attention and a Lesson Learned 24.08.2022

Challenges are great. Well, they are if you create them and follow through. We will discuss my current one and how you can join in one too.  Also, we will talk about how I get attention in business. What are you doing to get attention for what is important for you and your business?  Lastly, we should always be learning. Sometimes, we need reminders that help get us back on track. I may...

17 - Beliefs Part III 17.08.2022

We wrap up a 3 episode arc on beliefs by focusing on three recent Supreme Court cases. This week, we look at the recent ruling concerning a teacher who was praying on school grounds.  No matter your beliefs, we need to be asking ourselves if we are hearing each other. We may not change minds. In fact, highly unlikely. However, maybe, just maybe we can find a way to hold a conversation without...

16 - Beliefs Part II 10.08.2022

We continue our 3 episode arc about beliefs. This one will cover another ruling by the Supreme Court, abortion. I go over the case, a story that I have never told publicly about why I have my beliefs as well as what this ruling really means. All of this in less than 16 minutes.  There are reasons we all have the beliefs we do. Some of them, we will never see eye to eye. But, that doesn't mean...

15 - Beliefs Part I 03.08.2022

I will be covering 3 recent Supreme Court cases. I will be tying in reasons that people develop the beliefs they have. Some will take this as political.  Look, I have to use something as an example and these cases fit in perfectly. Besides, the media is the one hyping up what is and isn't political anyway. If we can instead look at these as what they are, issues, and instead have civil conver...

14 - Don't Be A Jerk 27.07.2022

Today, we will go over Rule #1 - Don't Be An Asshole.  Seems simple, right? The first thing we owe each other is kindness. Why is this such a challenge for some to figure out? If you want to get the most out of life, this rule is critical. Treat others how you would want to be treated.  It is easy to think that assholes win in life. Steve Jobs comes to mind. He had wealth but what else d...

13 - Challenge Accepted 20.07.2022

Today, we are going to discuss the Mendon, Missouri train crash. Now, rather than take the political angle that all the papers, media (social and mainstream) and online sites took, we will look at it from the citizens of Mendon's perspective. They rose to a remarkable level that I believe is possible for all. We will tie this into a rule I am hashing out. Rule #21 - Challenge Accepted. Do you want...

12 - Unsubscribe Part III 13.07.2022

Today, we will wrap up Rule #20 - Unsubscribe.  This one was such a big deal to me that I couldn't see glossing over it. We spend so much time being distracted by outside sources. While many may have value, we are only human. We will find a way to abuse them.  We quickly recap the previous two part and then dive into the topic at hand. The two main points in this episode are around two q...

11 - Unsubscribe Part II 06.07.2022

There was so much to go over that we couldn't contain it to one episode.  Here is Rule #20 Unsubscribe Part II. In this episode, we will continue our talk about a rule so important that it will be in Dad's Rules Get Off My Lawn in the coming months.  We continue the discussion about social media, friends, family and the questions you need to be asking yourself. We surround ourselves with...

10 - Unsubscribe Part I 29.06.2022

In this episode, we will go over Rule 20 - Unsubscribe. This rule will be featured in my upcoming book, Dad's Rules Get Off My Lawn. I had so many pages of notes, I decided to break this up into a few parts.  In Part I, we set a foundation by go over social media, blogs and podcasts. We talk about the lack of silence we let into our lives now and how the constant white noise is keeping up fro...

9 - Nachos, Keto and Goals 22.06.2022

Episode 9 is all about goals. However, we start it all off with me being ridiculous and singing a jingle about a chair.  So, why goals? Simply put, life can't be achieved at a high level off of resolutions and dreams alone. Without an end goal, through a mapped out plan, you will fail.  I will cover the importance of writing out your goals, my opinion on what time frame those should be s...

8 - Chase The Yes 15.06.2022

Procrastination is the killer of dreams. It destroys progress. We need to look at every situation as an inevitable yes. Whether you make a decision or not, you are saying yes to your future. It just may not be the one you want if you procrastinate.  On this episode, we discuss how Ben Franklin got clarity in making decisions. We also talk about that time I tried out for a rock and roll band....

7 - Act On Your Dreams 08.06.2022

This week, we will go over Rule #16 - Act On Your Dreams. This rule will be in the upcoming book, Dad's Rules Get Off My Lawn. It has been polished and fine tuned to perfection. It is ready for public consumption! I go over my early dreams and what I did to act on them. It takes time and dedication to develop your craft.  Also, we will cover many of the reasons that people don't act on their...

6 - Control and the Uncontrollable 01.06.2022

Are you a control freak? Do you have to always be in command of every situation whether it involves you personally or not?  Hey, I have been there myself! I spent many years wanting to control everything. It didn't give me the happiness, peace or success that I thought it would. In this episode, we go over why it may be time to give up control in some areas of your life. You need to learn to...

5 - Patience is BS 25.05.2022

I am not a huge fan of patience. In fact, I think we use it too much as a crutch for why we don't "do better" and "be more". On this episode, we will go over the ridiculous amount of jobs I have had before I found my passion in life. We will also cover why I believe that patience is bullshit. Being a top ten rule at number 5, it must be really important. If you find this episode entertaining or no...

4 - Three Random Thoughts on Kindness 18.05.2022

I am always happy to have my plans disrupted by kindness. I had every intention of doing an episode on another rule, but I had so many epiphanies during the week that I had to share them instead. In the end, they all had one thing in common and that was kindness.  I hope you enjoy this episode. As always, share and subscribe. Invite your friends and enemies to enjoy Dad's Rules. I can be reac...

3 - Confidence in the Uncomfortable 11.05.2022

When I sat down to script out this episode, I had nothing but a title and a vague idea of what I wanted to talk about.  I was uncomfortable. Doing a podcast is new. I can talk to a room of a thousand people and not have a worry in the world. But, a podcast? This is forever! I need to have confidence in the uncomfortable. What do I mean by that? i will explain it all in this episode. This one...

2 - The 30 Minute Whine 04.05.2022

Do you like to bitch, moan and complain? If so, this episode will explain why it may be time you stopped focusing on what is wrong with your life and move on so you can become a Kickass Adult! The 30 Minute Whine is Rule #15. It is one of my favorite rules. It teaches you how to get the whine out of your system sans the cheese... Whining is an ineffective use of your time. We will explore ways to...

1 - The Introductory Episode 30.04.2022

Episode 1 is a brief introductory episode. I will be going over what the show is about as well as what kind of episodes to expect moving forward.  So, why a podcast?  I felt it was important to add every possible way to communicate with all people wishing to be Kickass Adults. While some will learn through social media post, videos, blogs and books, others will prefer the allure of podca...
