Crossroads - Weekend Messages

In the midst of a world where power is achieved through force, Jesus is the perfect example of how vulnerability holds great power. Today we celebrate Jesus’ humble entry into the world, and remember that the humility that began His earthly life was also how He chose to bring hope to the world.

We don’t often think of Jesus as vulnerable. Yet, time and time again, all throughout the Gospels, we see Jesus acting in ways that would be textbook examples of vulnerability. As we look at Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, we see Jesus wanting His friends to be with him in His agony and to join Him in prayer. We also see Jesus wrestling vulnerability with His Father and ultimately surrendering...

It is astonishing to look at God as vulnerable. Isn’t it? It is not an adjective that we normally associate with God. Yet the life and ministry of Jesus reveals God in vulnerability. There might not be a more powerful example of God’s vulnerability than Jesus weeping in front of a crowd of people at the death of His friend, Lazarus. But it does teach us some powerful truths about how we should mov...

There are many unique attributes of God. We love to talk about God’s omniscience and omnipotence. We love to talk about God’s holiness and love. Yet, we almost never talk about the unique vulnerability of God. In fact, the words vulnerability and God seem to have little to do with each other. Yet, the Bible teaches us something completely different. The incarnation of Jesus shows God’s great and p...

Sometimes the best views are from the peaks of mountain tops. But one thing we can easily observe is that nothing grows on the mountain tops. All of the real plant life happens deep in the valleys. The same is true for us spiritually. Jesus may reveal things to us in certain seasons, but He always desires that we would live out what we know.

It has been said that the Bible is the tale of two cities. Those two cities are Jerusalem and Babylon. It is a fascinating way to view the Bible. We are introduced to both cities in the Book of Genesis and our Bibles close with them in the Book of Revelation. If you know your Bible, you realize that you see these two cities throughout the unfolding story of Scripture. In this weekend’s message, we...

God is patient and compassionate. God is forgiving and kind. But in the His perfect nature, God is also just and holy. Oftentimes we struggle to hold all these perfect aspects of God’s character together in our hearts and minds. This will be part of our journey as we see the brutal bowl judgments being poured out. How do we reconcile God’s kindness and grace with his just punishment? Don’t miss th...

The Book of Revelation is expansive in the material it covers. But at its core, it is always the revelation of Jesus Christ. There is one thing, and one thing only that God wants for us, and that is that we can see Jesus, in all of His glory, more clearly. That is exactly what we will see in Revelation 14.

We are at the point in the Revelation of Jesus Christ where everyone leans forward a bit. Why? Because now we come face to face with the antagonist of the last days, the anti-Christ. We learn that the anti-Christ also has a sidekick, who is called the false prophet. Prepared to be challenged as we study this intense portion of Scripture together.

One of the most challenging parts of our journey with Jesus is all the mystery. Sure, God explains many things to us, but not everything. Because God is infinite and we are finite, there is much that is mysterious about the Lord. And because of that mystery, we are called to walk by faith, not merely by what we can see. In our journey through the Revelation of Jesus Christ, we see the apostle John...

Nobody likes getting stressed out. We have never met someone who woke up and said that they were excited about an exceedingly stressful day. Unfortunately, stress is an ever-present part of our lives. Stress is our physical response to the many pressures that we experience in our fallen world. But Jesus invites us to not just survive times of stress but to actually thrive in the midst of it. But h...

We know we shouldn’t worry. But we do. We catch ourselves nursing anxiousness about many things that might or could happen. We know that is doesn’t change the situation, yet we persist. Welcome to the human condition on this side of eternity. But Jesus came, lived, died and rose again to make us more than conquerors. Not only that, Jesus has empowered us by His Spirit to live uniquely. As we conti...

One of the hardest times in a person’s life is when there is a season of suffering. No matter the cause of that suffering, it always feels like everything is falling apart. Our Bibles are full of stories of people who endure brutal seasons of suffering. Yet they become our heroes in the faith as we watch them persevere. And we say, “God teach me to suffer and persevere like them.” That is exactly...
