Clear Tinted Classics

It's stilly spooky season, and what could be scarier than Jake scrambling last minute to put an episode together? Probably his taste in horror films. Come be terrified by his choices and wail in lament!

Spooky month continues with... a comedy. But, horror themed so it kind of counts. Idk. It's a fun time, Jake likes this movie and it's Justin's first time. How does it hold up? Well, that's the point of the episode.

Spooky October continues with Bong Joon-ho's monster movie from 2006, The Host. Kurt and Jake dive into their history with the director, and then the movie itself. How does it hold up? Is the CGI bad? Yes, but does that matter? That's the true question. Listen and you'll find out!

It's time to kick off the spooky season, and what could be spookier than a group of four high school girls with the powers of dark magic on their side? Christina is back to chat with Jake about one of her favorite fall classics, and they dive deep into it. What a way to kick off the season! Follow Christina on all things at: dangerbot

Jancy and Rob are back on the show, and this time they are crossing off a big miss of Jake's, Mean Girls. How does this iconic mid-2000's comedy hold up today? Will they mostly just quote it? Kind of. Also, they all lost their minds and watched the movie musical version as well and discuss that too. Hot takes abound, Regina George worship reigns, and damn it, this episode is fetch as hell.

Justin is back and it is time to cover a film he and Jake both haven't seen. Get it, time? Uhm, anyway, we have a stacked cast, a wildly eccentric director, a slightly mind-bending time travel sci-fi plot, and maybe kind of a great love story? How did the boys feel about it? Well, that's why you listen.

Jake tries to share his love of Dredd. Justin rebuffs him. Somehow, they kind of get through the movie.

Man, it's time for more Michael Mann! Johnny is back on the show to talk about this really interesting time capsule. A film about a war that often isn't talked about, sort of starring one of the greatest actors of all time, made by a guy mostly known for his meticulous crime movies. It's a wild one, so check it out!

Jake talks about how he is stopping his Cowboy Bebop series, and what the future of the show is (it's fine!). Then talks about almost a year worth of stuff he has watched. Which he will now list. Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, The Last of Us, Saltburn, Barbie, Barbarian, Poor Things, Kinds of Kindness, Oppenheimer, American Fiction, Past Lives, Sanctuary, Leave the World Behind, Dune, Dune 2, Love L...

Are we gonna get lucky and discover that this film has always been an underrated gem? Or are we gonna get Slevin, whatever the heck that means. Josh Hartnett. Lucy Liu. Bruce Willis. Morgan Freeman. Sir Ben Kingsley. Stanley Tucci. A lot of other good actors. Can they make this wannabe Tarantino thing any good? I guess you'll have to listen for yourself.

Time to rock out with your space dock out, it's a new episode of Jake watching Cowboy Bebop for the first time, and we got space truckers, heavy rock music, and the nerd with the dragon tattoo. Heck yeah!

First time guest Phoenix joins Jake to talk about the wild puppet/Bowie/musical that is Labyrinth. A pretty formative movie for a lot of people getting exposed to the Goblin King Jareth and his really tight pants, but how does it hold up for someone seeing it the first time? Jake talks to Phoenix about getting into editing and film, and then they dive into the film. Twists and turns abound!

It's back to chasing weekly bounties and this week's is a doozy. Spoilers, it's an immortal kid. What the devil?

We finally meet Vicious! We finally get some Spike backstory. Faye gets caught and handcuffed again! Jake reviews the fifth episode of Cowboy Bebop, you already know what it is!

A little off the beaten path today, and into the beautiful garden/treasure trove that is this movie. Jake admits his Schrader ignorance, and Robert brings the hard questions as the two dive through this wild biopic.

Faye is back. Eco-warriors are trying to turn all of Jupiter's moon into monkeys. The Space Warriors call their leader Mom and it's kind of weird. Do Spike and Jet finally get paid? No! But hey, Jake is gonna talk about it, so check it out.

It's Justin's turn to see something he's never seen before, and I'm not just talking about Patrick Swayze's ass. Jake decided it was time to cover Road House, and so they do, kind of. It sure seemed like Sam Elliot was in this movie a lot more than he actually is. He still rules though.

Episode three of my first time watch of Cowboy Bebop. It's time to finally meet Faye. She makes quite the entrance, and then kind of gets buried in a convoluted plot to get a poker chip. But it's still a fun time!

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar references, cute corgis, and a badass chase sequence, what more could you want? Well... you'll have to find out by listening!

Justin is back on the show and it's his pick this week. The Great White Hype is a somewhat under the radar satire of the state of boxing and sports in general in the 90's. Can a great Samuel L. Jackson performance lift this movie from silly comedy to something special? Will Jake and Justin even stay remotely on topic about the film? The answer to both of those questions is probably no, but...

Howdy Space Cowboy, Jake has decided to fill every other week of this podcast in with episodes of a beloved anime he never got around to watching. It might surprise you, but he's starting with the first episode. He talks about his history with the show, touches on some of the key players, admits he is watching the sub (GASP!), and then just dives into the episode proper.

Stephanie is back on the show for only the second time to discuss an actual, true classic, Rosemary's Baby. How does a film from the late 60's directed by an incredibly controversial person hold up in the modern age? Does the idea of a devil baby still scare? How luxurious does that apartment seem these days? All those answers await inside! Please go follow Stephanie on all things at: docm...

Andrew is back on the show to talk about this cult classic, the follow-up from the director of The Crow. Jake is going in completely blind on this one, and it's a wild ride. How to even describe this movie? You either know or you don't. Do you have a memory of this one? What does that mean? Click and maybe you'll find out.

The dream team is back again to bless the show. Rob and Jancy make their triumphant return, and this time, they are in the hot seat, it's a reverse episode! Neither have seen the Tom Cruise vehicle responsible for such famous lines as "You complete me." and "You had me at hello.", and now it's time to rectify that. Rob, Jancy, and Jake get deep in the weeds on what this...

Just how base are Jake and Justin's instincts? Well, they both admit they would easily be lured and killed by Sharon Stone in this movie, so pretty basic. It's a first time watch for both of them, and they cross their legs and dive head first into the... plot of this twisty erotic thriller.
