Burning Hearts with Rachel Herbeck

As we continue our interview with Ali Hoffman, we hear more of her story and see how as we dive into God’s word and feed on it, it becomes written on our hearts. In this way, scriptures form and shape us.

This week, Ali Hoffman joins me as we discuss the importance of the Word of God. Ali begins to share her story with us and underscores the importance of memorizing scriptures.

Jesus’ death ultimately brings glory to his Father. As we walk on the oath to holiness, our joy and our desire should be to bring God glory through all that we do and through our own crushing and breaking.

As we follow in Jesus’ footsteps of discipleship, we have to accept the cross of Christ. In accepting our crosses with joy, the places in our hearts that need to be purified experience purification.

We have new life within us, but at times it doesn’t break through. The first step to activating the new life within us is to surrender to God’s will.

As we continue to discuss John 12, we see how Jesus is the grain of wheat that falls to the ground and dies. It is through his life, death, and resurrection that we have new life within us.

This week we dive into John 12 where Jesus tells us that a grain of wheat must fall to the ground and die. We begin to see how Jesus thinks of the Kingdom of God and how He wants us to value what He values.

After he is healed, the man simply shares what Jesus did for him. Today we are convicted to just simply share what God has done in our lives as a place of testimony and leading thers to Christ.

In response to this man’s healing, the jews do not rejoice but criticize. We ask ourselves if we function with criticism or if we look for the good in what the Lord is doing no matter what.

Before he is healed, we see the man giving excuses as to why he has not been healed. We see these lies in our own lives and ask the Lord to help us receive His healing.

As we read about this man’s healing, we see that Jesus knew His story and went directly to him. We discuss how Jesus sees and knows each of our stories and comes to fine each one of us.

This week we read John 5 and see Jesus’ healing a paralyzed man. As we begin our week, Jesus reveals through the passage that He is the only true source of healing.

As we grow in Christ, we grow in the fruits of the Spirit and walking in the Holy Spirit. But the more we follow our flesh, the deeper we are led into sin and bondage and ultimately death. Today we discuss this struggle between our flesh and the Spirit.

In understanding what our sin has done to each and every human heart, we see that a sacrifice was necessary for us to be saved. Jesus Christ fulfills the requirement of the law through his death and resurrection.

As we continue to discuss the law, we see how God’s law is fulfilled in Jesus and how the old law reveals who Jesus is and why we need Salvation. Through this we see that God never has a plan B.

Today Paul lays before us the reality that there are two laws – the law of the spirit of life in Christ and the law of sin and death. We explore these two realities and see which we were truly made for.

This week we dive into Romans 8 and proclaim the truth that there is no condemnation for us in Christ Jesus. We discuss places in our hearts where we experience condemnation from the enemy and ask the Holy Spirit to help us fight.

As we wrap up this week, Paul communicates that the Gospel is not only words, but it is with power, the Holy Spirit and conviction. Today we as ourselves if we truly have experienced the power of the Gospel and if we believe that the Gospel is power.

Today we see how Paul intentionally speaks into the identity of those he is writing to by telling them that are beloved and chosen. We ask the Holy Spirit to help us live in that reality today.

Not only were the Thessalonians known for their faith and love but ultimately through hope. We reflect on how hope does not disappoint us and how hope gives us a perspective of eternity.

As we continue in 1 Thessalonians, we see how the Thessalonians were known not only for their faith but also for their labor that was motivated and prompted by love. We reflect on how we can grow in love in our own lives.

This week we dive into 1 Thessalonians 1. We hear Paul writing to the Church after only spending three weeks teaching and staying with them before being persecuted. We ask the Holy Spirit to help us be known for our works produced by faith.

When we are truly free in the Lord, that freedom bears fruit in our lives. We begin to see visible signs of that freedom. Today we discuss what that looks like in our lives.

Throughout the week at Pine Hills Girls Camp, as we grow in freedom, the Lord brings us from a place of bondage to a place of true belonging in the family of God.

As we discuss John 8 and Pine Hills Girls Camp, we share how we are in a spiritual battle and examine how we choose to fight the enemy each day.
