Book Club From Hell

The Nation of Islam, despite its name, might not be the most Islamic organisation in the world. Elijah Muhammad, one of the Nation of Islam's leaders, collected the conversations he had with Fard Muhammad, the organisation's founder and self-proclaimed embodiment of Allah. One of the fruits of his labour was Yakub: The Father of Mankind, published in 2002. The subject of this book? The origin of t...

Originally published in 2004, 'Can Life Prevail?' is a collection of essays by the Finnish deep ecologist and eco-fascist Pentti Linkola. If mainstream environmentalism doesn't have enough genocide, fatphobia and Finnish waterfowl for your tastes, then Mr Linkola might just make a greenie of you yet. The Earth is flat, and the documentary 'Level' proves it. Published by Hibbeler Productions in 2021 and narrated by flat-Earth superstar Eric Dubay, Level is a non-stop assault of facts and logic, supplied by household names such as ODD TV, Dave Murphy, Tanner Stewart, Johnny Giampapa, Eddie Bravo and my personal favourite, Santos Bonacci. Levi sat this episode out, so Jack is joined by the famed...

Sun and Steel  is the best metaphysical justification for bodybuilding. There's nothing else that comes close. Written by Yukio Mishima and published in 1968, it details Mishima's transition from a weak-bodied explorer of his own internal world, to a de-individuated beautiful body. Two years after publication, Mishima launched an abortive coup in his native Japan, committing seppuku upon its failu...

American Psycho: chances are, you've seen the film and know plenty of Patrick Bateman quotes. But have you read the book? Published in 1991 and written by Bret Easton Ellis, this novel is an extremely funny satire of modern consumerism, as well as being stomach-churningly disgusting in many places. Levi sat this episode out, and Ed stepped in to fill his shoes. As Ed has watched the American Psych...

Alexander Dugin is a Russian political philosopher who may or may not have President Vladimir Putin's ear. A longtime advocate for invading Ukraine, Dugin's book 'The Fourth Political Theory' (2009) offers a Heideggerian framework for developing an alternative political theory to liberalism, one in which American global hegemony will be undermined, Dasein will become the historical subject, multil...

Why is everything so terrible? I'll give you a second. If you didn't answer 'the biologically-inferior acolytes of the distributed bioleninist vanguard party have wormed their way into most positions of power in society and are now remaking society into a grey morass where they have more social prestige than they'd have otherwise,' then you're not merely wrong, but probably a bioleninist yourself....

American propaganda cinema is great, don't get me wrong. But don't you ever want some variety? That's where Wolf Warrior 2 comes in, a proudly nationalistic, pro-Chinese Communist Party action flick! Come for the dialectical materialism, stay for the Han Chinese racial supremacy! VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION Jack has published a novel! Spicy hot take: 9/11 wasn't an inside job. Rather, it was a terrorist attack planned by Osama bin Laden, a Saudi Islamic extremist. For someone talked about so much, few people in the West have heard Osama bin Laden's own words. Instead of listening to the man himself, we had 'counter-terrorism experts' regurgitate talking points into our open mouths and called it a day. Fortunately, Bruce Lawrenc...

OpenAI has created ChatGPT, a language model which is designed for dialogue. It responds to text-based queries in plain English, and is a step forward in the field of AI. So what's the best use of such a stunning intellectual achievement? Making it tell us stories about the weirdo authors we've covered on this podcast, of course! Don Paris, PhD, is a quantum shaman and the husband of Ilona Selke, whose seminal work, 'Wisdom of the Dolphins: Entering the Secret of the Holographic Universe', was covered in a previous episode. He sells the SE-5, and has written an instructional manual and sales pitch for the device, named 'Finding Wholeness Through the Subtle Dimensions'. SE-5? Well, the SE-5 is a subtle energy detector and t...

Busy? Stressed? Got too much on your plate to undergo that ontological transformation you keep telling yourself you'll get around to? Never fear! Julius Evola's final major work, 'Ride the Tiger', bills itself as a 'survival manual for the aristocrats of the soul'. That is to say, it's an immensely practical work, one which describes how a differentiated man can integrate and orient himself to abo...

*nuzzles u sexyly* LAMAOOOO! My Immortal, published serially on fanfiction.net between 2006 and 2007, is a gothic re-imagining of the Harry Potter universe. The presumably pseudonymous author, XXXbloodyrists666XXX, ignored constraints such as keeping the story canon-friendly, plot continuity, spelling and 'why is Snape a paedophile now?' to deliver an unhinged haunted-house ride of fanfiction. Sat...

In 2014, Elliot Roger, self-described as 'magnificent' and 'the supreme gentleman', did the most gentlemanly thing possible: a mass shooting. 1967: Oskar Kiss Maerth writes 'The Beginning Was the End' in his MGTOW man cave, a Buddhist monastery in Guangdong Province, China. 1971: this book is published and the human race learns the truth about where it came from. At the tender age of sixteen, Missourian Jim Theis wrote the heroic fantasy novella, 'The Eye of Argon'.
