Bitbear
Bitbear is Asbjørn Ulsberg's tone-hammering, beat-juggling and demoscene participating alter ego. Banner and logo design by http://anne.li. Bitbear started fiddling with music in Pro Tracker on the Amiga 500 in the early 90's. But first when he got his hands on Scream Tracker and Fast Tracker on a PC, he started producing "real" music under the alias "Power of Creation".He created two albums and submitted songs to various demoscene competitions throughout the 90's until he put his musical career on the shelf until it was rebooted in 2012 by entering the Kindergarden 2012 Dance Music Competitio...

Power of Creation - Tears 14.07.1999 3:14
Tears is the final of a three-part tune series starting with Blood, followed by Sweat and ending with Tears, all using the same samples. Tears is a mellow trance tune with a stereotypical blip lead instrument that some people might find catchy. As all the other tunes on Beyond Fantasy, Sweat was created in Impulse Tracker on MS-DOS.
Power of Creation - Blood 12.07.1999 4:09
Blood is the first of a three-part tune series, being followed by Sweat and Tears, all using the same samples. Blood is a a trancy house tune fit for its time, but it sounds rather dated now. As all the other tunes on Beyond Fantasy, Blood was created in Impulse Tracker on MS DOS.
Power of Creation - Veronica 03.07.1999 3:49
Veronica was created to impress my girlfriend at the time, aptly named "Veronica". The song was completed without any name or thought of using the word "Veronica" in it, but I was young and foolish and thought this would impress her. So I sat in my boy's room and whispered her name into a microphone and placed it at strategic places within the song.
Power of Creation - Horizon 17.06.1999 3:45
Horizon's melody and arrangement is created by my father, Sverre Ulsberg, under the original Norwegian name "Frihet". We sat together a couple of evenings and arranged this together. I think it came out okay.
Power of Creation - Below the Surface 31.03.1999 3:49
Below the Surface has a liquid feel to it due to the xylophone lead used throughout the tune, which explains the name.
Power of Creation - Adrenaline 26.10.1998 4:25
After working late punching export invoices at UPS, my friend and colleague drove me home in what can only be described as "criminally high speed". On top of being overtired, this car ride got my adrenaline pumping and before I knew it, the outline for Adrenaline was done. A couple of weeks later in 1997, this tune was completed. As all the other tunes on Beyond Fantasy, Adrenaline was created in...
Power of Creation - United in Power 07.10.1998 3:49
United in Power came to be from a nice sinus wave and heavy kick. From there I just threw together some chords and finally came up with a lead that can barely carry the song to its end. As with all songs on the album, this tune is created in Impulse Tracker 2.14 on MS-DOS where samples above 8 bits were luxurious, so if you find the sound quality lacking, then that's the (main) cause.
Power of Creation - Medieval Orphanage 05.10.1998 3:35
Medieval Orphanage was my first attempt at creating something orchestral and cinematic. Since most of the instruments are 8-bit and the mastering techniques available in Impulse Tracker were "limited", it doesn't sound very good, but I'm pretty happy with the overall theme and keys.
Power of Creation - Intro 04.10.1998 1:44
This is the intro to my age-old demoscene alter ego, Power of Creation's first album, "Beyond Fantasy".
Power of Creation - Behind the Curtains 22.09.1998 3:57
Behind the Curtains is a trance tune based on a blippy lead, transitioning into a circus-inspired break and back into regular blippy trance-land towards the end. Due to the circus-themed middle part, I thought the name "Behind the Curtains" would be alluring, mystical, and fitting.
Power of Creation - Walking (Part 1) 22.09.1998 1:56
Walking is one song split in 3 parts since that's a cool effect when playing a CD. As separate files in reverse order on SoundCloud, it doesn't make much sense, though. Anyhoo, this is part 1 of the song created by my dad playing the guitar and me throwing beats, bass, leads, and chords on top of it. Created in Impulse Tracker 2.14 on MS-DOS.
Power of Creation - Walking (Part 2) 22.09.1998 1:05
Walking is one song split into 3 parts since that's a cool effect when playing a CD. As separate files in reverse order on SoundCloud, it doesn't make much sense, though. Anyhoo, this is part 2 of the song created by my dad playing the guitar and me throwing beats, bass, leads, and chords on top of it. Created in Impulse Tracker 2.14 on MS DOS.
Power of Creation - Walking (Part 3) 22.09.1998 1:14
Walking is one song split in 3 parts, since that's a cool effect when playing a CD. As separate files in reverse order on SoundCloud, it doesn't make much sense, though. Anyhoo, this is part 3 of the song created from my dad playing the guitar and me throwing beats, bass, leads and chords on top of it. Created in Impulse Tracker 2.14 on MS DOS.
Power of Creation - Life Without Love 21.09.1998 4:11
This is a hysterically cheesy house tune that I created over a lead melody I'm sure I've ripped from someone, somewhere, but as I've never discovered what the inspiration might be, I'll leave this up here as an "original" tune nevertheless.
Power of Creation - Project Millennium 21.09.1998 3:33
A rather boring tune that barely made it on to the album "Beyond Fantasy". I think the break is ok in its build-up and take-off, but overall I'm not very happy with this tune.
Power of Creation - Halloween 21.09.1998 2:05
This is my second orchestral tune and because of its harmonies, I decided "Halloween" to be a fitting name.
Power of Creation - Back in the Shire 19.09.1998 4:56
Back in the Shire is a remix of @moduloone's song by the same name. The original had a slower, more pop-inspired arrangement, but I wanted to juice it up and made this trance version that became quite popular during my school's 1999 "spring break" (russetid).
Power of Creation - One Ring 18.09.1998 3:36
I have no recollection on how I got to the samples from the 1978 animated film, "The Lord of The Rings", but they somehow ended up on my harddrive and long before the Peter Jackson movies were even thought of, this song came to life.
Power of Creation - Rage 18.09.1998 3:43
Rage was built upon the disharmony and sound effects created by Puma. I'm placing this in the Psytrance genre although it's not nearly as psychedelic as modern psytrance. I hope you enjoy the harmonies as much as I did when I created it.
Power of Creation - Sweat 18.09.1998 3:22
Sweat is the second of a three-part tune series starting with Blood and ending with Tears, all using the same samples. Sweat was created after several iterations on the same theme and I ended up creating this "Edit" that is a bit shorter the others. As all the other tunes on Beyond Fantasy, Sweat was created in Impulse Tracker on MS DOS.
Power of Creation - Uncherrished Bitch 18.09.1998 3:13
Uncherrished Bitch is an acidic tune I threw together in a couple of evenings. Not much to say about it other than that I'm not too proud of the name, however, I felt it matched the feeling of the song, so there you have it.
Puma - Open Your Heart 17.08.1998 2:55
Open Your Heart is not a Power of Creation production. I only finished off a song a friend of mine (calling himself "Puma" at the time) started, but didn't finish. I thought it sounded so good that I included it on my "Beyond Fantasy" album. This song also served as an inspiration to some of the songs on my second album, "3rd Floor", because it contained so many new, high-quality samples. As with...
Power of Creation - The Army 05.08.1998 3:41
The Army is a fast-paced trance tune I completed in a few days. The main theme is inspired by DJ Tiësto and other trance artists I listened to at the time. I felt that the sound quality got better with this tune than the earlier, mostly due to finding better 16-bit samples and by gaining more understanding of how to manipulate instruments and combine them in new ways.
Tiny Chip's Revenge 26.12.1995 1:40
In 1995, I was mostly tracking in Scream Tracker 3 and “Tiny Chip’s Revenge” was my first chip tune produced as an S3M. Originally, “chip tunes” had to be produced on hardware with actual synthesizers on a chip – hence the name – such as Commodore 64’s SID or ZX Spectrum’s AY-3-8910. On the Amiga and IBM PC, no such standard synthesizer chips were available, so “chip tunes” were rather faithful em...
