Bertcast

I’ve got Diplo and Rocco DiSpirito on Something’s Burning, and somehow, we cover everything from DJs going to work at 8AM to why my Target knives are apparently unacceptable. Diplo talks Daytona, Ibiza, running, country music, and his failed Travel Channel pilot, while Rocco brings actual chef energy into the room. Food, chaos, fitness trauma, and me telling a story about almost drowning in a tria...

I sit down with Dillon Francis to talk about blowing up during the early days of social media, what life as a DJ actually looks like versus what I think it is, and defining EDM, reggaeton and trap music. We get into who actually belongs on a DJ stage, reinventing yourself creatively, Diplo being ahead of every trend, and why Australia might be the greatest place on Earth. Check out Dillon on tour...

I’m cooking for two people who actually know what they’re doing in the kitchen, so obviously I make chicken schnitzel with an apple fennel salad and a blue cheese olive tapenade thing that somehow really worked. We get into everything from Food Network and travel shows to burger trends, bread options and Andrew has me fully spiraling about salmonella. This one is chaotic, super food nerdy, and one...

I sat with Chris Robinson of the legendary band, The Black Crowes. We got into everything I love: music, comedy, drugs, touring, weird dreams, and the exact moment he knew he was never doing anything but music. We talked about George Jones, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, our shared superpower, encounters with old-school rock heroes and how “She Talks to Angels” was pivotal to my younger days. Buy...

Gayle King and LeeAnn pulled up to the kitchen island in Miami -- and this one goes everywhere in the best way possible. Fear and fame, space travel, Whitney Houston… you know, the kinds of stories that somehow only come out when there’s food on the table. While I tried to keep dinner from going sideways, we talked about music, marriage, and Gayle makes a phone call that changed my life. It’s loos...

Luke Combs comes by the podcast and we get into everything from his early Vine days, the moment he realized music was his path, and how “When It Rains It Pours” changed his career. We talk about the wild gift that Garth Brooks gave him, and what it’s like going from a regular guy writing songs in Nashville to selling out stadiums. We also get into his new album, The Way I Am, who he would have in...

This one’s dedicated to my daughter Ila–because if she were here, she would be losing her mind. Street art legend Shepard Fairey, No Doubt drummer Adrian Young, and Sum 41 drummer Frank Zummo swing by the kitchen, and we go deep on punk rock, skate culture, and how finding the right creative lane can change your life. While I’m searing steak and building the most aggressive tacos possible, we talk...

During South Beach Wine & Food Festival, I did a LIVE Something’s Burning for an audience of 10’s with Ja Rule and Ana Navarro. We talked about Ja’s music, Challah bread, and maybe a little politics. Jerk chicken sandwiches were made, music was played, and the audience stuck around, so I call that a success! I love when music fills the Bertcast Studio - and this week, I am lucky enough to hear Marcus, Ted, and Ben of Mumford & Sons do the thing they do best. Plus, we talk about the differences in our fans (they look NOTHING alike), Rubber Band Man, and American holidays. Check out Mumford & Sons's new album, Prizefighter, releasing on February 20th. https://www.mumfordandsons.com Follow Mumford & Sons...

I get to go inside the creative subconscious of Maynard James Keenan with him and his band mates from Puscifer, Mat Mitchell and Carina Round. And, I had no idea how fun (and funny) it would actually be. Labia hunting, giant lizards, and good wine are all on the menu. Plus polenta and pork tenderloin. And, we’re putting Maynard’s own wine and coffee to good use in the recipes! Follow Puscifer: htt...

Johnny Van Zant and Rickey Medlocke from legendary band Lynyrd Skynyrd join me in Tampa to talk music, performing barefoot, and being from Florida. Johnny debunks a lot of what I thought about that fateful plane crash, they give me a Free Bert ego boost, and we discuss The Machine being my Free Bird. And, you might just hear both LIVE - at the Full Throttle Festival on 2/14 at the Ocean Center in...

Greg Fitzsimmons and Mike Gibbons never fail to have me on the floor laughing, and this episode of Something’s Burning is no different. We break down the new Godzilla movie, create a new show called Spoiler Alert, what constitutes torture, and Ellen – all while I make them crispy pork belly. It’s a bittersweet Bertcast when my podcast producer, Halston Ray, sits down to chat about the last eight years of our lives together. We talk about him drinking Ari’s pee, the most I have EVER laughed on this podcast, and how in the world he went from pizza delivery guy to podcast producer! Bertcast would not be what it is today without him and I will be forever grateful for the memories, the ass...

Social Media Influencers Tana Mongeau and Imari Stuart come by the kitchen, but since everyone’s on GLP-1s, I guess no one’s eating the Truffle Chicken Pot Pie I’m making. Instead, we talk about skin care, men’s underwear, being canceled, and how good I look with Tana’s Lip Kit on. Not that anyone cares what I think, but Snow Tha Product gets me to talk politics - which I never do. We also get super emotional, call Joey Diaz, and we both agree that Salsa and Beer is a GREAT Mexican restaurant. Snow also teaches me about being from Mexico - and I teach her what NOT to do a 15 year old boy... and pouring gasoline in you a$$ is top on the list. Buy Snow Tha Product’s new album,...

Dream couple Carter Oosterhouse and Amy Smart are now mine and LeeAnn’s best friends! They come by the kitchen so we can talk all about how it happened – from the old Discovery days to our time in Michigan at Fully Loaded… and now over Asian-inspired steak sandwiches. We also hit on Amy’s love of the jump scare, if you need to ask your spouse before you buy a car, and who’s a better actor – me or...

Gege Kreischer's favorite comedian, Kathleen Madigan, swings by the studio to do what we do best - talk about other comics. We’ve got stuff to say about Ron White, Scott Kennedy, and Lewis Black… just to name a few. We also talk about Kathleen’s mom’s pill problem, naming our tours, cat videos and her new special - out now on Amazon Prime. Watch Kathleen’s new special, The Family Thread, on Amazon...

We’re setting records this week with the biggest height differential of guests in Something’s Burning history. WWE superstar and TV host Braun Strowman towers over comedian Brad Williams… 6’8” vs 4’4” – and it’s basically all we can talk about. I do manage to find time to make the viral gyro / doner kabobs taking Instagram by storm. And they’re as good as everyone says. Buy tickets to see Brad in...

I sit down with country singer/songwriter Jordan Davis. We talk about opening for Luke Combs, moving to Nashville, his first record deal, the CMA’s, Jelly Roll, fly fishing, shooting bows with Cam Haynes, and Jordan performs a few songs! John Hall and Zach Rishel from The Red Clay Strays come by my Nashville kitchen the day before the CMA awards and we talk about the first thing we bought when we earned some money, if all sins hold the same weight, and who’s a bigger fan–Matt Rife or me. I throw together a shepherd’s pie, a side salad and we play a few word game. Follow John: https://www.instagram.com/johndubya93  Zach: https://ww...

Some of my favorite women, Bunnie Xo and Leanne Morgan, come by the Nashville kitchen to talk about menopause, Jelly Roll’s shaved face, where we vacationed as kids, and of course, LeeAnn Kreischer. Plus, I make a cheese-overloaded croque monsieur with a fall salad on the side that’s bound to back you up...
