In the book “Love Like That” Dr Les Parrott says, “Jesus saw what others didn’t. In fact, the Gospels mention that Jesus ‘saw’ forty times. And when he saw, he was almost always moved with compassion.” This week we focus on the love of Jesus that was mindful of others around Him. Dr Parrott also said that, “the life of Jesus is filled with these perceptive incidents. Where others saw a paralyzed m...

Normally we give thanks, to God and to others, only when good things come our way. Someone gives us a gift…we say “Thank you!” The Lord answers our prayers in the way we want Him to…we say “Thank you!” But giving thanks in ALL circumstances? That would be seriously hard to do! How can we give thanks when something goes awry? How can we give thanks when we just don’t want to or feel like it? Really...

We would all agree that prayer is an essential part of who we are as Christian people. There’s not a person who calls Christ his/her Lord and Savior that would believe we should never, ever pray. But the words of 1Thessalonians 5:17 are challenging as they call us to “Pray without Ceasing”. Never pray? That’s not good. Always pray? Who is able to do that? How can we obey this passage? How can we “...

One of the more amazing things about our faith is that it is a “now and later” faith. We have Jesus in our hearts-and-lives now on earth, and we have Jesus in our hearts-and-lives later and for eternity! When we consider the incredible truth that Christ is with us “always…even to the very end of the age”, or, said differently, “now and later”, it causes us to have something else both “now and late...

We’re ending this tour through John with what is perhaps the most obvious of encounters with Jesus and that’s Him meeting us in our need…our need for forgiveness. Peter had denied Christ. Peter had gone back on his word. Frankly, in the garden with Jesus, Peter had bold face lied to the Lord. And yet what does Jesus do? Does He act like we would, kicking Peter to the curb and walking away? Nope. J...

We are people of faith. We trust that God exists. We trust that Jesus died and rose for us. We trust, we live in faith, every single day. For a long time therefore, the Church berated and shunned those who doubted. They were called, from our story in John today, “Doubting Thomases” and thought to be less than the best Christian. Amazingly however, Jesus doesn’t act like us! Oh…that’s not amazing i...
