Hallelujah Chorus | Revelation 19:1-10 by Christ Community Church of Magnolia

The “world” dangles attractive things before us. It pressures us to think, act, and conform to its values. It promises the world at our fingertips. But does it deliver? Is there a more satisfying and God-honoring way of life? Come, let’s draw wisdom from God’s word today!

What do you celebrate? What do you cry about? Both responses tell us something about what we hold dear. Today, we see both of these contrasting responses from God’s judgment upon the kingdom of this world - much to glean today from the aftermath of God’s justice.

Have you ever heard someone say, “The God of the Bible is overly harsh and unfair to us.” Have you ever felt those sentiments in your own life towards God? Is that an accurate statement or do we deserve much worse than what we get from God? There is much to consider today as we look at the most significant judgments in the Bible. Let’s learn and grow from God’s Word!

God’s wrath and justice - not soft-sounding words to our ears. Not words or verses we put on our coffee cups or our mantles. But, these attributes of God are deeply rooted in His character & actions. Let’s understand how God’s justice & wrath inform how we think about God’s plans, our worship & our witness.

We learned last week how Satan deceives the world. We also saw a call for the saints to endure, have faith, and be wise. What hope do we have to motivate such a response? Let’s dive into Revelation 14 & be encouraged by God’s eternal gospel that provides hope for today & tomorrow!

“Imitation is the highest form of flattery.” Ever heard that? While that may be true, imitation can also be the highest form of deception. This morning we see the devastating consequences of Satan’s cheap imitations & deceptions. Let’s gain wisdom from God’s word so we might not be deceived by the evil one!

As we resume our study on the Book of Revelation, we will take a step back and ask important questions about why a book like Revelation is important, what we have learned so far in our study, and what do we do with it.

Are you a worrywart? Do the troubles of life paralyze your ability to live as God intended? What might Jesus say about worry and what we should do with it? How might Jesus’ instruction on worry differ from that of your therapist? Let’s see what Jesus says about our anxieties. Much to learn from God’s Word today!

What do you treasure? Whatever you treasure will determine what you spend your time and resources pursuing. Jesus had some thoughts for his disciples about the dangers of chasing things that don’t last. Come, let’s learn from Jesus’ teachings what we should spend our lives chasing and not chasing!

Sometimes, life feels easier when we lower the bar, loosen the standards, or take the easy way out. Can this attitude drift into our lives before God as well? This morning, Jesus defines & raises the bar on what it means to apply God’s word to our lives. Come, let’s be challenged to learn & grow in godliness this morning!

Purity- if you hear anyone say they’ve 100% attained it, you should run the other way! Yet, God purifies us from our sins, and Jesus calls us to a life that pursues purity. With all the confusion that comes with this term- how should we understand it, pursue it, and long for the promised day when we are made 100% pure?

Mercy is often defined as “not getting what you deserve.” Have you ever been in that place where you received someone’s kind mercy rather than justice or consequence for what you deserved? Mercy is a sweet gift to give and receive. Come, let’s learn & grow in our understanding and application of God’s mercy in our lives from the words of Jesus!

Have you ever been so hungry or thirsty that it hurt? How did it feel when you ate that first bite or drank that first drink after being famished? Today, Jesus will use this word picture to make a rich spiritual point to His disciples. What should we spiritually hunger and thirst for? Let’s open God’s word and see!
