We Were Gamers

The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. Also, Mechwarrior, Fantasy Football, and Monster Train.

A tough but fair talk-through of rewatching Star Trek's 2009 "reboot" after a decade.

Can I interest you in a discussion about phone plans? No? How about what to stream instead? Yep, more Netflix and HBO shows we're thinking about watching. On to games though, last week was the 30th, yes 30th, anniversary of the SNES - so we had to feel old and nostalgic for a bit. Games: Monster Train & Doom 2016!

There were so many games in our past week, we had to do a Lightning Round: Evo Explores, Mekorama, What the Golf, & Farm Simulator 19. Plus, Michael regained his Greak Memories of Azur. JJ gets back into an old Yakuza habit with the newest game. And, Andy waxes on too long about Monster Train and Slay the Spire.

The new Masters of the Universe sequel cartoon prompted a long pod about TOYS. Andy got some of the new MotU Revelation line, Kit has been keen on the MotU Origins line, and Ken gives us a MotU toy history lesson. Plus, someone reveals deep feelings for Teela and Orko finally gets his due. Lawsuits prompt us to forget Bad Batch and instead discuss the state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And, a...

This week: Masters of the Universe Revelation (spoilers), EA customer service, tech problems, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Celeste.

How to free up 150 gigs in an instant; no, not uninstalling Warzone... Michael makes an MLB moment. JJ gets into the GAS and tries more Fallen Order. Plus, an in-depth look at Game Pass for PC.

Blaseball's world has collapsed, maybe in on itself. JJ gives us the rundown. Plus: What the Golf? (not really golf), Trails of Cold Steel 4, Breath of the Wild, and Jedi Fallen Order all graced our gaming screens this week. And, in hardware we debate The Elite 2.0 controller and the Playdate handheld.

We maybe went a little bit stream happy and watched a lot of shows, old and new: The Expanse, Masters of the Universe, and Castlevania. Andy tried Bomberman Online so you don't have to. And, what's the new tricks in Chapter 4 of Celeste.

There's no shortage (pun) of news this week, especially when it comes to wings and cars. Also, we talk about phone hacks, the Xbox Elite 2 controller, and the Steam Deck.

JJ and Andy contemplate the unique Original Series Episode All Our Yesterdays from the ill-fated third season.

CELESTE! - plus Vacation, Fridge Repair, SGDQ, turbo buttons, and the grand finale of the Component Class on Controllers.

Disneyland is a vastly different experience but Andy and Michael still enjoyed their time. Micheal leads a discussion of the mouse, no not Mickey. And, Part TWO of Component Class: Controllers. Is there to be a part three?!

Cassette Tapes, Tacos, Beemers, Baseball, Monster TVs, and 2D Metroid, what year is it?! The Nintendo Direct sent us back to the past for this week.

With Andy out this week, Michael and JJ talk about current events! Currently that means E3! We recorded before Nintendo so we made some predictions, we were probably wrong! But there is tons of discussion of new games coming out from Microsoft (Halo Infinite, Gamepass everything, Starfield), Square Enix (Guardians of the Galaxy, Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters), Ubisoft and others!

Talking about Controllers is just too fun, so here is Part One: Talking about first party and aftermarket controllers, layouts, preferences, light history, and integration. Component Class makes its triumphant return. Also, The WWG crew and families finally had the fated Wing Challenge cook-o-thon get together. Hear all the wonderful flavors... and the not-so-wonderful spicy chip.

Re-loving the Deep Space Nine Season 7 classic "Take Me Out to the Holosuite." Who are the lessons really for?

Emails! (Monitors, Super Switch Pro, VPNs, & Password Managers) Andy drools over a new TV. JJ and Michael have a Trails summit.

JJ washes his car to sit in traffic. Michael braves a variant of the Luther at Knott's. And, Andy tries to uncramp his thumbs. On this riveting We Were Gamers, we give a good amount of time to Horizon Zero Dawn as well.

Andy revisits the darkest corner of the MCU (Hulk) and a very bright one too (Captain Marvel), while JJ reviews the reimagined Four-Hour Justice League. Michael and JJ chat Horizon Zero Dawn after having completed Yakuza 5. We ponder the Mass Effect Legendary Edition. There's a good amount of Trails series updates. And, thanks to a provoking article on Nintendo News, we debate the true meaning of...

Kit, Ken and Andy sit back for a few hours to discuss The Bad Batch’s overall feel so far in the young new Disney+ show. Also, we commiserate at the sad state of the collector market and if toy collections are even still for the fans.

Comics Expert Ken joins us for an episode solely focused on the shows: Invincible and Falcon & Winter Soldier. Other than our normal tangent shenanigans, that's seriously it. Spoilers.

Some busy weekends of fun and work get us deep into the BBQ prep for summer. And when you're talking BBQ, it's time to talk about Flavor Town, yes, the actual one. JJ gets a brand new set of wheels. Michael explores the Moon Doors. And, Apple and Epic are duking it out "in" court.

And now our watch has ended, not with a bang but with a whimper. Mash-ups aside, JJ and I share in our disappointment in Discovery's slapdash ending. Listen in and we'd love to get some opposing opinions to debate.

In This One: Nvidia Filters, Call of Duty Warzone, Mad Max, Homeowners Minutes, Horizon Zero Dawn, Collection of Mana (Final Fantasy Adventure), Yakuza Dance Battles, Legend of Heroes Trails in the Sky the Third, Mortal Kombat, and Invincible!
