We Love to Watch

Our summer double month on dorm room movies begins with 2001's Donnie Darko! This is our second Richard Kelly movie we've covered after Southland Tales, from a director we ostensibly like....does Donnie Darko hold up as well as it did when we were teenagers? Ummm....kind of?

Our John Cusack month comes to a close with HIGH FIDELITY.

To listen to this We Love to Watch episode is love it. You are about to listen to this podcast episode.

CUSACK MONTH continues with Grosse Pointe Blank by George Armitage.

We're covering a selection of John Cusack films we love starting with 1985's Better Off Dead! Content warning: This film's premise is about suicide, many of the scenes are played for comedy.

Alex Garland's ANNIHILATION, based on the Jeff VanderMeer series beginning with the same title, closes out our Lovecraft month this year.

Our Spring Forward, Love Craft month is covering three short movies this week, as we take a spooky dip into Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities. We're covering The Autopsy, Pickman's Model, and The Viewing, but the the whole series is great and you should check it out!

SPRING FORWARD, LOVE CRAFT month handles an emerging cult classic, David Prior's THE EMPTY MAN.

We're back with another cosmic horror themed month with Spring Forward, Love Craft. We're kicking off with Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead's quarantine movie, Something in the Dirt. While it feels like an extension of The Endless and Resolution, it goes to some very surprising places that ended up making us fall in love with it by the end of the episode.

START TREK brings Star Trek: The Next Generation to a proper, not-pathetic close with All Good Things, the finale.

We're back for another look at some of Aaron's favorite TNG episodes from Seasons 6 and 7: Relics Tapestry Chain of Command Frame of Mind Parallels Lower Decks We'll be back next week to wrap up this Start Trek run with the TNG series finale, "All Good Things..."

We cover: Deja Q Sarek Remember Me Cause and Effect The Next Phase The Inner Light

Start Trek is back! We're doing a month long wrap up of The Next Generation, and we're starting with the worst movie, and then going through some of the all-time great episodes. In this episode we also talk about Balance of Terror and The Defector...both way better than this pile of crap.

For our "failed franchise" close-out, we discuss a failed franchise that may just end up becoming one due to fan pressures and the dedication of James Cameron, the guy who just made a bazillion dollars again. We're joined by the esteemed Ethan Warren, whose book is right around the corner! The Cinema of Paul Thomas Anderson: American Apocrypha comes out just next month. Please get it, because it's...

Are you ready to the City of Bones? Well, tough shit. There's no bones in these cities, only engines....*mortal* engines. What does it mean? Who knows! But is the move movie at least good? No. No, it is not.

JUPITER ASCENDING by Aaron Armstrong & Peter Moran

We're kicking off our failure to launch month, about sci-fi film franchises that never got off the ground with a great one, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. (Or is it the planet of a thousand cities?)

In this, Carrie, Aaron, and Pete discuss the last films of last last year!

For WLTW Classic month, we are re-releasing URGE, an episode with our friend Lark Lundberg.

Happy 2023 WLTW! We're starting of the year with some of our favorite episodes of the show with new intros as to why we like them so much. This is an Aaron pick, and the "paint fume episode," and we also kick-off with a discussion on our plans for the show in 2023. Thanks for listening!

This week, we might be cursed because we...like this one? We're covering the Disney+ show The Santa Clauses and talk about how Tim Allen is good, actually (not as a person). Merry Christmas to all who celebrate! See you in 2023!

CURSED CHRISTMAS takes to the color tv screen with the very special episode of ALF, "Alf's Special Christmas"

Cursed Christmas feels especially cursed this week as we cover the 2007 pile of garbage, Fred Claus. Do we have a good time or just get sad? The answer will not surprise you! What does make us happy is the return of certified good boy, Liam Haber. You can find more of Liam on twitter at https://mobile.twitter.com/haber345

Hulk Hogan curses Christmas.

We close our Planet of the Apes mini-month with WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES, the Matt Reeves conclusion (for now!) of the series.
