The Skinny with Mike and Adam

Production note: Apologies in advance for the noticeable difference in audio quality on this episode. Mike’s usual microphone was not working correctly, so he was recording on a headset. We are looking to resolve the issue so it shouldn’t happen going forward. Thank you for your understanding. It's time for us to revisit the ever-growing list, The Greatest Song In The World! On this month's submis...

It's our final episode of the year, so what better way to celebrate than to share our Best Albums of 2022! These are the albums we listened to that will stay with us beyond this calendar year. They are the ones that surpassed our expectations and the ones that we will HIGHLY recommend to anyone looking to listen to some great music! Thank you for celebrating this year in music with us for the past...

In our part two of our three-part end of the year music celebration, we talk about the albums that let us down, the albums that we hated, and the albums that failed to meet our (sometimes unreasonable) expectations - it's our Most Disappointing and Worst Albums of 2022! Did you listen to any albums this year that disappointed you or just flat out hated? Please feel free to share your thoughts . Fi...

We've reached the end of 2022! What better way to celebrate than by reflecting on all of the music and albums that we've listened to, reviewed, and celebrated over the past year! In our part one of our three-part series, we share and discuss our Honorable Mentions - the albums that just missed our Top 10 list this year. These are our albums that landed in our Top 20 to 11 of 2022! #ArmorForSleep #...

This is our last 'regular' episode of The Skinny for 2022 before our year-end celebration in December and we're taking the time to reflect on yet another strange year in our lives. Lots of ups and downs, disappointments and triumphs were sprinkled throughout and Adam and Mike share with one another and with our audience what the year-to-date was like for them. Additionally, we go over the tentativ...

One of our most anticipated albums of the year was released recently and now that we’ve spent a week with it absorbing the emotionally heavy lyrics and the radical stylistic change, we get to share our thoughts with one another on the newest album, ‘Dark Sun’, from revered scene band, Dayseeker. Is this album as jarring and divergent as listeners online are claiming it is? Or is it a case of an ar...

October 14th was an absolutely STACKED day for album releases! A lot of follow-ups to albums that we loved in recent memory, some new artists we’ve come to follow, as well as some old standbys. Surely, there had to be at least one knock-out, home-run album amongst that batch that we both agreed was the stand-out for the week! ...Right?! On this episode, we share our thoughts on albums from artists...

It's time for us to revisit the ever-growing list, The Greatest Song In The World! On this month's submissions, we share a pick sent to us by one of our listeners, Adam submits a hit single from one of hit all-time favorite albums, and Mike shares a song that was there beside him during one of the hardest years of his life.  Thank you for hanging out with us and allowing us the opportunity to...

After a recent batch of anticipated album releases, this week we do a double-dose of track-by-track reviews of both 'Color Decay' by The Devil Wears Prada and 'The Hum Goes On Forever' by The Wonder Years! Did these album live up to the expectations left by their predesessors? The answer might surprise you! Listen along with us on this chonky episode of The Skinny! Also discussed, we share our tho...

Adam and Mike reminisce about their evening the night before watching The Gaslight Anthem perform at the Hollywood Palladium for the band's reunion tour! Emotions were shed! Also discussed on the episode, we share our thoughts on albums from artists and bands like Coheed and Cambria, Armor For Sleep, Ozzy Osbourne, YUNGBLUD, The Devil Wears Prada, No Devotion, and Death Cab For Cutie. #TheGaslight...

One of our favorite bands, The Wonder Years, is releasing their 7th album very soon. And because this is a band that we feel like just keeps getting better and better, we felt like now is a great time to highlight them and talk about their very interesting and ever-evolving discography. From easycore to pop-punk to alternative rock, and songs ranging from telling a girl that you'd like to go to sp...

It's time for us to revisit the ever-growing list, The Greatest Song In The World! On this month's submissions, we share a pick sent to us by one of our listeners, Adam submits a lesser-known emotional gem from one of his favorite bands, and Mike dissects an anti-war masterpiece that has a lot to say about the many facets of the military industrial complex!  Thank you for hanging out with us...

Armor For Sleep are coming back from their long hiatus and are returning with their long awaiting 4th studio album, 'The Rain Museum', very very soon. To celebrate, we're doing a track-by-track retrospective on this fantastic seldomly spoken about concept album from 2005 about death, heartbreak, and second-chances. How does it hold up in the year 2022? And dispite the mid-2000s emo aesthetics, do...

We've got a shorter episode this week unfortunately due to real-world changes (good changes, thankfully), busyness, all coupled with a sore throat. So we spend this episode talking about all the music that we've been listening to in the past week and we share our thoughts on albums from bands and artists like Royal Coda, Silversun Pickups, Panic! at the Disco, Coheed and Cambria, and Dio. #RoyalCo...

In a LONG overdue new and reoccuring segment, Adam and Mike begin the process of sharing some of their all-time favorite songs! On this inaugural episode, we are giving our thoughts as to why "After The Party" by The Menzingers and "Limo Wreck" by Soundgarden deserve the title of 'Greatest Song In The World'! We hope you enjoy and are looking forward to future iterations of this segment in the fut...

The unfortunate truth about some of our favorite music is that sometimes it comes from people who have done harm to others. On today’s episode, Adam and Mike at least try to have a conversation about that idea and try to dissect it and how we personally navigate our way through that thought process when we are confronted with albums that we love. Please keep in mind that we’ll be talking about sen...

This week, we’re bringing back a fun segment that’s always fun for us to do. It’s the return of ‘Turgid Naval Gazing’, a segment in which we read bad reviews of great albums! Also, Adam reads the musings of a tired, sorrowful man in ‘The Adventures of Unicorn & Koala’. We also share our thoughts on the music that we’ve been listening to from bands and artists like Anthony Green, Palisades, Gla...

Rain City Drive has had quite the storied history since they were first formed in conjunction with their former front-man back in 2014. After numerous lineup changes, label changes, and even a name change, the band is back with their self-titled album; which is their fifth overall, but second with this lineup, but first under their new branding – did that make sense?! Nevertheless, after a rather...

Following up one of our favorite albums from 2019, ‘breathe’, TMP are self-releasing their 8th album! Firstly, we try to piece together what’s going on with the odd release of this album as well as the lack of communication regarding it from the band, but since it still released for a small number of fans on July 8th, we were able to do a track-by-track review of it for this episode. We hope you e...

Summer is here! Whether it’s a sad-boi summer or a summer filled with beaches, boardwalks, and babes, We here at The Skinny have got you covered with our first ever Summer Jams Playlist of 2022 (of songs nowhere near the year of 2022!) Have a safe and memorable summer, everyone! Listen to some music too while you’re at it! Also on the episode, we talk about music we’ve been listening to from artis...

In a more casual discussion this week, Adam and Mike put together an episode a bit last minute due to one of the hosts catching a certain virus that may or may not have been at the center of a world-wide pandemic. But we still discuss a good number of albums that we’ve been listening to as well from artists such as Palaye Royal, Spiritbox, Alexisonfire, Coheed and Cambria, Conan Gray, LIMBS, Bob D...

We’ve reached the halfway point of 2022, so Adam and Mike go through the mid-year review for The Skinny! We check it with the draft picks and the bets, and we go through all of the albums that we’ve listened to for the year and see if our thoughts on any of them have changed.
