Spirits on SermonAudio

This sermon examines the baptism and temptation of Jesus in Mark 1:9-13, presenting three key aspects of His coming that demand total devotion. First, Jesus fulfills the Old Testament expectations and the preaching of John the Baptist by arriving as the promised Messiah from Nazareth. Second, He is approved by heaven, as the Father declares Him the beloved Son and the Spirit descends upon Him, ano...

This sermon addresses the danger of legalism, described as the 'ditch on the right' that Christians must avoid while pursuing a life of obedience to God's commandments. The central argument is that legalism arises from a false theological separation between salvation and sanctification, treating the Christian life as a two-stage process rather than an organic outgrowth of the Gospel. By relying on...

In this morning sermon from John 6:15-24, Pastor Rockhill draws the congregation to the central purpose of John's Gospel: that readers would believe Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and in believing have life in His name. Following the feeding of the five thousand, the crowd sought to seize Jesus and make Him an earthly king, and He withdrew to the mountain to pray while His disciples set out...

At the start of a race, runners must not jump the gun, but wait for the right moment. The gun fires, then the race begins. In the case of a race, the timing is a practical matter of fairness. In the case of Jesus' disciples, in Luke 24:48–49, Jesus gave them a great commission and then told them to stay put, to wait in the city. But why? They waited until they were clothed with power from on high....

Who shall guard the guardians? By showing us how to treat elders who rule well, are accused, and are in sin, God demonstrates that he will guard the guardians: 1. By His Word. 2. By His Spirit. 3. By His judgments. A. Hide the Word in your heart, and seek to do it "by the book" B. Pray for your Elders/Session/Presbytery/Denomination C. Trust that if the Church doesn't get it right, Christ will wor...

This sermon explores the pastoral letter Jeremiah sends to the exiles in Babylon, emphasizing that their displacement is the sovereign hand of God rather than mere historical accident. The central instruction is to settle into their circumstances by building homes, planting gardens, and seeking the welfare of the Babylonian city, thereby rejecting rebellion and embracing a life of obedience in a h...

In this evening message, Pastor Rockhill continues his study of the parables of Jesus, turning from Luke to Matthew's record of the wise and foolish builders in the closing words of the Sermon on the Mount. His central burden is that genuine saving faith is never mere profession but is demonstrated by a life of obedience to the will of the Father. Drawing on the sobering warning that precedes the...

What is the Church? We see in 1 Thessalonians 1 the Church's position, the Church's power, and the Church's posture. The Church is in God, chosen for salvation; empowered by the Holy Spirit, and is looking to God and looking for Christ's return.

This sermon explores Psalm 80 as a fourfold appeal to God for spiritual revival, addressing the church's need for sanctification beyond initial justification. The exposition identifies the psalmist Asaph as a Levitical choir director and frames the text as a cry for divine intervention in times of national and personal spiritual decline. Key themes include God as Shepherd, Judge, and Savior, with...

A brief closing reflection summarizing the themes of the conference. Christ cherished Scripture, the Word of His Father. He lived by it and fulfilled it. Through unity with Him and the work of the Holy Spirit, believers receive that same Word into their own hearts. The closing message encourages participants to continue reading, praying, singing, and living out the Scripture, so that their minds,...

Building on the previous 2 topics, this address explored how the Holy Spirit uses Scripture to shape the believers into the image of Christ. The Word enriches the spirit, gives new direction to one's emotions, strengthens faith, deepens prayer, and shapes the Christians character. In short, it renews and transforms the heart and one's faculties and will bear fruit in the Christian's life. God's Wo...

In this episode, we venture into the epicenter of John Bunyan's The Holy War—a grand, high-stakes military epic that transforms the human soul into the contested fortress of Mansoul. From the tactical vulnerabilities of the city's five sensory gates to the tragic slide into spiritual complacency under Mr. Carnal-Security, Bunyan strips away religious platitudes to reveal how easily a restored hear...

This sermon explores the narrative of Genesis 24 as a profound illustration of God's sovereign providence in securing a wife for Isaac. The central message emphasizes that divine appointments are not the result of human planning or chance, but rather the fulfillment of God's eternal counsel, as seen in the servant's prayer and Rebekah's timely arrival. The text presents a typological view where Ab...

The sermon explores the promise in Psalm 72:16 that God will bring about a mighty harvest through a small remnant of believers, described as a handful of corn sown on mountaintops. It emphasizes that the smallness and apparent insignificance of the church are no barrier to divine blessing, as the secret of their power lies in the indwelling Holy Spirit. The text highlights the hostile nature of th...

This sermon expounds on 1 Peter 1:23-2:3 to define the evidences of true saving faith, particularly in the context of the Lord's Supper. The central message argues that true believers are distinguished by four marks of grace: they are born again through the sovereign work of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God, they actively mortify sin, they ardently desire and obey Scripture, and they have perso...
