Ephesians 3:14–21 — Paul kneels and prays that Christ would take up residence in your heart. Lead Pastor Matt Beasley continues A Study Through Ephesians at Severns Valley. With chapters 1–3 preparing us for everything Paul will ask in chapters 4–6, he pauses to pray — and the prayer itself teaches us: see how great God is, and how much you need Him. For Christ to dwell — to take up residence — as...

Ephesians 3:1–13 — You're not just saved; you're sent. Missions and Groups Pastor Jeff Prosser on being a servant of the gospel, in A Study Through Ephesians at Severns Valley. Jeff opens with the question students asked him most across years of ministry — a question about purpose. Paul's answer: the gospel was meant to be seen, not hidden, and we're not only called to believe it but to help other...

Ephesians 3:1–13 — Paul, a prisoner, discovers that grace runs through his weakness to serve others. Lead Pastor Matt Beasley continues A Study Through Ephesians at Severns Valley. We tend to think of service as something we owe — court-ordered hours, or what our groups expect of us. Paul's service flows from somewhere else entirely: grace operating through his weakness. He wasn't ready to work fo...

Ephesians 2:19–22 — You're no longer a stranger or an alien; you're a fellow citizen, built into God's own household. Lead Pastor Matt Beasley continues A Study Through Ephesians at Severns Valley. As Paul closes chapter 2, what was once true of the Gentiles — separated, alienated, without hope — is no longer who they are. Built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ as the co...

Ephesians 2:14–18 — "He himself is our peace." Christ tears down the dividing wall and makes two into one. Lead Pastor Matt Beasley continues A Study Through Ephesians at Severns Valley. The Ephesian church had real fractures — Jewish-background and pagan-background believers who distrusted one another. Paul's answer is Christ Himself: by His death He breaks down the wall of hostility and creates...

Ephesians 2:11–13 — "Remember… you were without hope and without God" — and then, "brought near by the blood of Christ." Lead Pastor Matt Beasley continues A Study Through Ephesians at Severns Valley. Paul tells the Gentiles to remember who they once were — outside the covenant, without the promise, without hope. We're prone to set our hope on flimsier things — ourselves, a spouse, a child — and t...

Ephesians 2:8–10 — Saved by grace through faith, not by works — and yet created for good works. Lead Pastor Matt Beasley continues A Study Through Ephesians at Severns Valley. Grace is undeserved mercy; faith is the humility with which we receive it. We're not saved by our works — but we are God's workmanship, created for good works He prepared beforehand, specific to each of us. The only "walk" P...

Ephesians 2:1–7 — "But God, being rich in mercy… made us alive together with Christ." Lead Pastor Matt Beasley continues A Study Through Ephesians at Severns Valley. Paul moves from the exalted, reigning Christ of chapter 1 to the starkest contrast: we were dead — not occasionally sinful, but dead — in our trespasses, pressed from outside, inside, and by the enemy. Then come the two best words in...

Ephesians 1:19–23 — The same power that raised Jesus is at work in you — and He reigns with all things under His feet. Lead Pastor Matt Beasley continues A Study Through Ephesians at Severns Valley. Paul points to the immeasurable power God exerted in raising Christ and seating Him far above every rule and authority. However the age feels — politically, personally — God isn't wringing His hands in...

Ephesians 1:15–19 — Paul prays that the eyes of your heart would be enlightened to know the hope you've been called to. Lead Pastor Matt Beasley continues A Study Through Ephesians at Severns Valley. Having the eyes of your heart enlightened isn't closing a knowledge gap you eventually graduate from — it's a cosmic shift from darkness to light, worked by God's power. And the first thing that opene...

Ephesians 1:7–14 — "In Him we have redemption through His blood" — grace not measured out, but lavished. Lead Pastor Matt Beasley continues A Study Through Ephesians at Severns Valley. Paul moves from what God purposed before time into your present, lived experience: in Christ you have redemption — present tense, already true. And the sin it covers isn't abstract; it's the specific, curated "buffe...

Ephesians 1:3–6 — Chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world — not for anything He foresaw in you. Lead Pastor Matt Beasley opens A Study Through Ephesians at Severns Valley. As the study begins, Paul lifts our eyes to before time itself: God chose us in Christ to be holy and blameless. He didn't peer down the corridor of history and pick the impressive ones — before you were ever good or...
