Our world looks at Jesus as a cartoon character or a caricature. This cartoon or caricature shows Jesus locked in the dark ages of a primitive Jewish society totally unrelated to the joys and trials of modern-day Richmond with its high-speed internet and artificial intelligence. This cartoon character Jesus neither understands nor appreciates the challenges of modern life. As Christ followers, the...

Christianity teaches how God became a man to pursue humanity with his love and grace through the cross and the empty tomb, merely than through a code of ethics or self effort. We find the grace of God as we humbly repent of our sins and receive His Spirit that transforms in a personal relationship that heals us from the inside out. The empty tomb literally reveals that the power of God could not b...

And as we look at the Good Friday story, there can be no doubt but that Jesus is the main character of this passage and of all history. But the minor characters say a lot too, and they tell us something about ourselves. The central theme from this passage is Innocence in Agony. While the world rejected Jesus, those who were marginalized recognized His Kingship, and His righteousness.

The Palm Sunday Passage is where the central section of Jesus’s long journey to Jerusalem in Luke’s Gospel is about to conclude. As Jesus approaches the city, the atmosphere is charged with high expectation. Many expect that the Kingdom of God will appear immediately. Jesus uses this moment as an opportunity to correct his followers’ timing, and to redefine His kingship. He moves from the private...

In our passage for today, Jesus leads his disciples in the Passover meal (which they would have expected Him to do). But he did so in an unusual way. He drew the meaning of the whole meal onto Himself. He offered a new commandment, a new covenant, one which we as followers of Christ have been brought into. And for we who are familiar with the Easter story, we may take all of this for granted. But...

God knows what we need better than we do. I heard the saying recently: “I’m grateful for all the prayer requests God didn’t say yes to.” Sometimes we think we know what’s best for us, and when. But God knows better than we do. Sometimes the things we think would be good for us, would actually be bad for us. And other times the things we think will be bad for us, are actually God’s way of bringing...

Daniel 6 - Daniel in the Lion’s Den: He didn’t seek to make an example of himself. Neither did he hide when the pressure built up. He just did what he always did, all of which we will see today in our message titled “Witnessing through Integrity.”

A Prophet in Exile pt. 5

A Prophet In Exile pt. 4

Human power may be impressive. It may even appear threatening at times. But it is limited. In the story of the fiery furnace, we are assured that God is the living God. He is present in the times of our trials. And in the faithfulness of his followers, we are reminded of the importance of a long obedience in the same direction. Faithfulness to God outlasts the flourishes of earthly pride.

Daniel is promoted to rule over Babylon and all of its wise men. His peers are appointed his administrators at his request. We see how Human achievements and honours are to be held lightly. Worldly wealth and power are as nothing in the face of God’s sovereign plan for humanity. God remains in control of human history, even when the powerful oppress and dominate. Ultimately every Kingdom has feet...

Although we are not in Babylonian exile, we are (like the Judeans) called to be faithful servants of God in a cultural context where oftentimes many are resistant to the things of God. And yet, it is precisely within that context that we need to look to Jesus and understand how to live well, and for Him.

New Year message of getting our priorities and our hearts right before God for 2026.

We conclude our series by looking ahead, journeying with the Magi to acknowledge the ultimate authority of the One born in the cradle. This message focuses on the Crown, Christ’s ultimate Lordship, and the hope instilled by the knowledge that He is coming again. We are called to live as a kingdom of priests, serving the King whose coming brings order out of chaos and whose reign inspires our worsh...

This message, intentionally placed between the profound reflection of Christmas and the dawn of a New Year, invites us to take a spiritual year-end inventory. We will look back, like Mary, and “treasure up all these things and ponder them in our hearts,” acknowledging God’s faithfulness throughout the past year. We will then look forward, pressing toward the future vision of the Crown and the high...

On the Sunday before Christmas, we focus on the radical, humble act of the Incarnation. God showed His love for humanity by sending Jesus to earth as a Baby, making Him the ultimate and Greatest Gift. This message highlights the miracle of the Light of the World coming into the darkness and reminds us that His love is the foundation for an unshakable confidence.

Christmas is fundamentally a time for reconciliation; that is, the work of God to reconnect us to Him. Just as we explored in Genesis, God desires to “close the gap” caused by sin, and through Christ, He has given us the ministry of peace to mend our fractured relationship with Him and with one another. We will explore how true joy comes from being made right with God and others.

Jesus is God incarnate, who came to us to be our Saviour. The entire reason for Christmas is the love of God, and the purpose of Christ's life was to bring salvation. “Life is short, death is sure. Sin the cause, Christ the cure.” We will reflect on the truth that the only cure for sin is the blood of Christ on the cross, a gift freely given by grace that we do not deserve and cannot repay (fr...

The angelic announcement of “good news of great joy that will be for all the people” is our invitation to celebrate. Advent is first a time to celebrate that God loves us unconditionally, regardless of our performance or faults. This message will empower us to embrace the celebration of Immanuel: God is with us.

Joseph's final instructions to carry his bones out of Egypt serve as a powerful symbol of faith and hope. This act shows that "the offspring of Abraham now rightfully occupied the land of promise." This message challenges us to live purposefully, leave a lasting legacy of blessing and honour, and courageously pass the "baton" of faith to the next generation, preparing them...

Drawing inspiration from Jacob's powerful Family Blessing over Ephraim and Manasseh, this message will highlight the great spiritual authority that parents have to make faith-inspired declarations. This blessing carries such weight that it "modifies Israel’s tribal structure," reinforcing how a parent's declaration can profoundly impact the destiny of the next generation. This me...

Joseph's life exemplifies wise leadership that impacts future generations. This message focuses on how to raise "world shapers" and the critical role of mentorship, vision, and strategic planning in empowering the young, while honouring the legacy of those who have paved the way and intentionally passing on the blessing.

Jacob and Esau's reunion demonstrates the profound power of repentance, forgiveness, and reconciliation in mending estranged relationships. This message will offer hope and guidance to those burdened by disconnects within their families, emphasizing God's desire to "close the gap" between generations, break cycles of  dishonour , and restore the flow of  blessing  and an "ov...

Jacob's story illustrates how God works through flawed family dynamics and individual struggles. This message will address how God’s "thousand generation covenant" can overcome "sinful family patterns" and the destructive cycle of dishonour (as seen when Jacob deceives his father for the blessing), bringing restoration and the powerful restoration of blessing, even when pre...

On this Thanksgiving Sunday, we reflect on God's consistent faithfulness through generations, acknowledging that His love and promises extend for "a thousand generations". We will celebrate the enduring legacy of His blessings that continue to shape our lives today, recognizing that blessings are rewards for being born!
