This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Mike backon the show as we finish off our Halloween season with the 1984 Troma masterpiece The Toxic Avenger.  In this movie, part super hero origin story, part horror comedy, a 98 lb weakling becomes the titular character and all sorts of nonsense insues.  This movie is a lot of fun, and we were happy to finally have Mike o...

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Mac back to the show to discuss the 1984 Horror sequel, The Hills Have Eyes Part II.   In this sequel to the far superior 1977 franchise starter, a bunch of dummies get lost in the American Southwest and get picked off by a bunch of literal hillbillies.  All of us watched the original too, so this is actually a two-fer as we...

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Doug back on the podcast as we discuss the 1984 sci-fi/horror flick Night of the Comet.  This comet is amazing.  Some people get vaporized, some people get turned into zombies.  For the few lucky enough to be indoors, behind lead lined walls, the apocalypse waits for you.  The special effects are pretty bad, and the plot is...

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Stacey back on the podcast to discuss the 1984 Stephen King adapted horror movie Firestarter.  This Drew Barrymore starring vehicle has a stellar cast, but it suffers from some of the more common problems that happen when adapting Stephen King books.  Things that are scary in the book don’t always translate well to the scree...

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Mike back on the podcast to discuss the 1984 horror (?) cult classic C.H.U.D.  Yikes.  This is the kind of movie that always seems to be so highly regarded amongst horror nerds, yet there is nothing here.  Decent cast (half the adults from Home Alone are here) and an ok premised, but man, does this movie drag, with no actual...

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Anthony (calling all the way from Colorado) back on the podcast to discuss the 1984 schlock slasher horror film Splatter University.  This is barely a film.  Apparently, it was only 65 minutes long, so they decided to "pad it out" to feature length, all for our benefit.  There ain't a lot to like in this movie.  Sandwiched i...

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Mac back on as we discuss the 1984 Stephen King adaptation Children of the Corn.  That's right.  They took an 8 page short story and made an 11 movie franchise out of that.  And it is apparent from the first movie that they have to stretch things out, as Sarah Connor and some dude drive around for about an hour just looking...

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana discuss the 1984 comedy, All of Me.  This Steve Martin vehicle has him sharing a body with Lily Tomlin as they fight to aquire her fortune.  It's kind of funny.  It's kind of not funny.  There are a wide variety of opinions on this one but we still had fun discussing a surprisingly deep cast.  We are fast coming up on our Halloween...

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome first-timer Stacey to the podcast as we discuss the 1984 fantasy adventure movie, The Neverending Story.  In this kid-friendly film, some kind reads about another kid, as he fetch quests through a bunch of gigantic heads, all to rescue the princess.  I think.  This is my first time and I'm an old man.  Sometimes I get confus...
