READ :  Romans 6:11-18 We are saved by grace because of the death and resurrection of Jesus. The work on the cross has granted us access to God and we can now be reconciled to Him. Yay! But that is not the only thing that happened at the cross. Because the power of the gospel is not just a promise of eternity with God, but also a new life here on earth. And the new life starts when we finally real...

read: Romans 5:1-11 There are amazing benefits to being “made right” (justification) in God’s sight by faith in Jesus. BENEFIT 1:  Peace with God We are moved from being God’s enemies and strangers to friend.  This peace is undeserved privilege - a gift from God, not something earned through good deeds or religious efforts.  It means that when you believe, you belong. BENEFIT 2:  Purpose in Pain B...

Romans 4:1-5 NLT The key to overcoming the struggle of performance-based faith is to understand that true righteousness comes from trusting what God has already done for us, not from what we do for God.   We often have an internal drive to please others and meet their expectations.  While this drive can lead to success in some areas, too often it can affect our approach to faith, leading to a perf...

Romans 1:16-17 “For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes –the Jew first and also the Gentile. This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, ‘It is through faith that a righteous person has life.’” (Hab. 2:4)  Romans 3:23 - “For everyone...

Luke 10:25-37 "Be the Neighbor" challenges the traditional question of "Who is my neighbor?" posed by a religious expert to Jesus. Instead of giving a definition, Jesus flips the question by telling the story of the Good Samaritan, instructing us to be the neighbor. This isn't just about being a good person, but about putting our faith into action. Being a neighbor means m...

THE POWER OF YOUR STORY Jesus knew the power of a story.  When a religious expert tried to trap Him with the question, “Who is my neighbor?”  Jesus didn’t just give him a simple answer - he told a story.  IN the same way, we are empowered by the Holy Spirit not just to debate or preach, but to share our own stories and bear witness to God’s goodness and faithfulness. Remember, every number has a n...

A religious leader comes to Jesus with a question. But it’s not really a question because he already knows the answer. The problem is not that he doesn’t know. The problem is that he doesn’t do it. Yes, the way to eternal life is loving God and loving our neighbor. We know that. But do we do it? If we’re honest, most of us would have to say “no.” The story of the good samaritan starts with two peo...

In Luke 10:25-29, before Jesus tells the Parable of the Good Samaritan, an expert in the law tests Him with a question:  “What must I do to inherit eternal life?”  Jesus responds by pointing back to the commandments to love God and love your neighbor.  But when the man presses further - “Who is my neighbor?” - Jesus tells the story. This “story before the story” show us three truths: 1. Every stor...

There’s some people that just make us feel uncomfortable and trigger our insecurities. Why is that? It’s because we’re insecure. That’s why we compare and compete. We’re insecure in our identity, our value, and our calling, and so we look around to see what everyone else is doing. And we feel secure as long as we feel like we’re better/richer/smarter/prettier than the rest. When someone who has mo...

No matter where you are on your spiritual journey, everyone is welcome! Our faith is more of a journey than a trip.  While a trip is a planned event with a specific destination, a journey is an adventure focused on experience and transformation. 1. Everyone is called to the journey.  Everyone is on a path of twists and turns, ups and downs.  Social media often shows a “highlight reel”, making it s...

We are all searching for fulfillment in life. We want to pursue something bigger than ourselves. Whatever it takes as long as it is worth it. Whether it is by accomplishing through our works, the things that we have, we start to realize that Jesus is inviting us to a deeper calling that goes beyond our comfort zones. We will look at an interaction a man had with Jesus and learn that to follow Jesu...

Read Acts 1:4-14 It seems like people are always coming in and out of our lives.  Dealing with these transitions can be difficult.  Our issue isn’t the “welcome”, our challenge is the “goodbye.”  How can we have healthy goodbyes? 1. Embrace the season, not just the stay.  Many friendships are seasonal, and it’s important to appreciate people for the specific time they are in our lives.  It’s okay...

Read John 17:6-19 Drawing from Romans 10, we read the Apostle Paul’s four missiological questions that provide a pattern for spreading the Gospel: 1. How can they call on Him to save them unless they believe in Him?  It’s not enough to simply “know about” Jesus; people need to truly “know Him” to call on His name for salvation. 2.  How can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him?  F...

Read Romans 10:14-15 Drawing from Romans 10, we read the Apostle Paul’s four missiological questions that provide a pattern for spreading the Gospel: 1. How do we prepare our lives to LIVE DEAD?  It begins with understanding God’s perspective.  Just like when climbing to the top of a mountain let’s us see everything around us, God sees the big picture while we often only see what’s only directly in front of us. Just before the Great Commission, when Jesus sends out his disciples to go and make disciples who make disciples who make disciples… the d...

When we think about the call of God, most of us focus on the big giant changes: God telling us what career to pursue, what person to marry, what city to move to. We think the call of God is only for the people who are in ministry or only for the big decisions of life, but the truth is God is always calling. He is always calling us to take a step. He is always inviting us to a deeper and closer rel...

When we read John 13, it almost feels like we are “eavesdropping” on Jesus’ conversation with his disciples.  It’s the last time Jesus is with his disciples before he is betrayed, beaten and killed… and he knows it.  And so, in John’s Gospel, Jesus shares his heartfelt, final lessons to his closest friends. John 13:1-17 In these last moments with his disciples, Jesus knew his hour had come and hav...

2 Timothy 2:15 Make every effort to present yourself before God as a proven worker who does not need to be ashamed, teaching the message of truth accurately. Other translations say “work hard”, “do all you can”, “be diligent”, “do your best to present yourself to God as one who is worthy of his approval”. If we are going to live for Jesus, we are going to need to be transformed. That is a process...

1 Corinthians 14:1-4 Let love be your highest goal! But you should also desire the special abilities the Spirit gives—especially the ability to prophesy. 2 For if you have the ability to speak in tongues,[ a ] you will be talking only to God, since people won’t be able to understand you. You will be speaking by the power of the Spirit,[ b ] but it will all be mysterious. 3 But one who prophesies...

Luke 9:22-25 “Then he said to them all: ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it. What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self?” Jesus will never lie to us. It is costly to be a disciple. It is...

To be a disciple of Jesus means we are called to lay down our life for Him. We are called to live our lives like we have nothing to lose. We are called to live dead. As followers of Jesus, all of our dreams, desires, and decisions are laid down at the throne of Jesus. He has the ultimate say in our life. And there is nothing that this world can ever give that will compare to knowing Jesus. If I ha...

Acts 2:1 On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place. 2 Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. 3 Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. 4 And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages,...
